Why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor is complicated, Japan believed since they were an axis power that they would inevitably go to war with the United States. Later, on December, 7, 1941 around 8 A.M. Following that move the U.S. placed embargos on exports of aviation, gasoline and premium grade metals. Japan later signed a treaty with Germany and Italy called Tripartite Act, this act would force the U.S. into a war with all of the Axis powers if we attacked a single one, Japan hoped this would be enough for the United States not to attack Japan for any reason in fear of a war with Germany, Italy, and Japan.
