How could Europeans know about Asia if Marco Polo didn’t exist? Marco Polo traveled and walked to Asia with the wish to discover a new place, while also wanting to trade. He met with the Emperor of Asia, having a good relationship with him because he was from another place so, the emperor can know more from Europe. Thay headed out towards the Persic gulf. They then switched directions towards China. They crossed the tall Himalayas mountain. They spent more than 5 years trying to walk through it. Finally they got to the capital of the Mongolian empire, Beijing, the forbidden city. Marco Polo met with the Mongolian emperor called Kublai Khan. He was treated well from him, because he was from far away so Kublai can know more about were he was from. He lived in the Mongol Empire for 14 years, so he learned how to speak chinese. Marco Polo and his family lived in the highest class possible in China. He then traded a lot in there. Because of that, he had made a good relationship with other chineses as well. In the last year Marco lived there, Kublai had asked him a favor. He wanted him to bring well known people from Europe to the empire of mongolians. He accepted his favor, but he was not sure if the Pope will let him do that. He walked back to Europe. Again, it took a long trip across the whole landmass. He got to Europe for more than 10 years.
