The term epistle means letter. In the Bible, the Pauline Epistles refer to the group of letters Paul wrote to the Church in the New Testament. They contain insight into principles of following Jesus Christ. After serving the Church, Paul began a series of missionary journeys to spread the gospel. While on these journeys, Paul wrote the letters found in New Testament. One third of the New Testament consists of these fourteen epistles. They give accounts of the life of Jesus and are a reliable source about the history of the early Christian Church.
