Why did Romeo and Juliet die? There could have been many reasons why Romeo and Juliet ended as a tragedy. Some would say it was because of Friar Lawrence and of him getting Romeo and Juliet married. Some would also say it was his fault because he was the one who developed the plan for them to die. Others would argue that it was the Prince’s fault for not being strict with Romeo. There are lot of possible reasons, but I am here to say that I think both families and their fights caused the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. My three reasons of why I stick with this idea is because one, they pushed Juliet to marry Paris. My second reason is because the families both forced the love to be a secret. And my final reason why is because if the families stopped fighting, it would be a happily ever after. So going back to my first reason why I believe it is the families faults for causing the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is because Juliet’s family forced her to marry Paris. The reasons why I think that the families forced the love to be a secret is because both Romeo and Juliet knew that if their families found out about their love, both of them would be looked down upon. And according to hints later in the story, Juliet would probably get disowned because Lord Capulet threatens to when Juliet said she wouldn’t marry Paris. Another reason why the families force the love to be kept secret is because they loved each other so much that they simply wouldn’t want to take the risk of losing each other. Even if they told someone safe to tell it to, it could still backfire. And finally, Juliet says, “O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name, Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I'll no longer be a Capulet,” (Shakespeare
