Aztec Human Sacrifice
Imagine you live in a city that was beautiful and majestic,but by nightfall you can hear screams of pain and torture. You go on a walk and see the temple which has blood down the stairs and bodies at the bottom. You see people tearing the hearts out of victims and you can't forget what you saw. Would you live in Tenochtitlan? The Aztecs lived in Mexico from 1350 to 1519 B.C.E, eighty miles from North to South and forty nine miles East to West. During this time you would stress the most about human Sacrifice because you would never know who was going to be sacrificed as a prisoner. We should emphasize Human Sacrifice for three reasons: Huge Scale, Spiritual Connection, and Motive for war and expansion.

According to the background essay, the Aztecs worshipped many “Gods” and each of them specialized in something different. They had gods such as rain, fire, water, corn, the sky, and the sun. These gods are the ones who made the people believe they need to sacrifice humans or the end of the world is coming. The Aztec religion was focused on how the gods, Humans, and nature were interconnected. The military route and ritual were all connected, and in a significant part focused on helping Huitzilopochtli keep the sun strong so disaster could be averted. This information supports emphasizing human sacrifice because the Aztecs were very important to our new everyday life. The Aztecs believing in their gods are what got them through their everyday life. Their “Gods” gave them rain, crops, water, and everything they needed to survive. It also helped me emphasize human sacrifice because the information about the gods and how the gods ruled them and caused them to think things like keeping the sun strong so disaster will not strike their homes.
