4. How did the Great War for Empire change the relationship between England and its American colonies? The Great War for Empire, or Seven Years’ War went on between 1756 and 1763. The unfair taxation of the colonists is what sparked this war; there were also several other political and economic factors, which also played a large part.
Many people who worked in these factories were immigrant women who were willing to work for next to nothing and did not know how to fight the unfair treatment they received. “Roughly two million Eastern European Jewish immigrants entered the United States between 1881 and the end of WW1. Even before the Treaty of Paris, American politicians and lawyers adopted the Articles of Confederation on November 15, 1777, with a unanimous ratification on March 1, 1781.
After World War II, American society changed dramatically. One change was the GI Bill. This bill provided for veterans after the war. The benefits to this bill was low-cost mortgages, low-interest loans to start a business, cash payments for college, and one year of unemployment compensation. Another change was the population shift.
America went from being an underdog to being a powerful nation. The War of 1812 produced
James Monroe Whitfield’s poem, “America,” spoke to me the most compared to the other poems in the selection. In the poem he asks many questions regarding the American Revolution, and the true reasons for America to become free. The line that stuck out to me the most was on lines 17 and 18, “Was it for this they shed their blood, On hill and plain, on field and flood?” Whitfield is trying to make the point in these lines that the American Revolution was fought for freedom for all men and women in America. Many men shed their blood for liberty and they were proud of the outcome.
However, the United States was able to show Great Britain that we were not giving up very easily, and we were not willing to give up Canada, which we had recently received. Even though the British had burned down Washington D.C, “there was also hurricanes, tornadoes, and fire” , Americans were still able to push through it against them, and eventually we agreed to sign to a truce with the Treaty of Gent. The war also led to the “era of good feelings” and it created a sense of unity for the nation. It also “destroyed the Federalist Party and proved to the world that the United States was not just an experiment” but that it was the real deal. The effect that the war of 1812 had on United States politics was there was a growth in the United States manufacturing.
Some things that changed were that women had gained the right to vote, women held more jobs, and the great migration. In 1919 women got the right to vote, because of the ¾ vote from states, women felt they had more of a say in society due to men being at war. The amendment said that the right to vote shall not be denied on the account of sex. During America’s time in WW1
Women and children were greatly affected, as well as the economy and the people in it. Items were rationed for the war and Americans became self sufficient. Ads were displayed for jobs for women. There were also ads for children to collect metal and rubber. Americans were brought together in this unifying event.
The Effect of Women on the Outcome of World War Two World War II effected women tremendously by taking them out of their comfort zones and chucking them into the work force and pushing them to do most of the work men normally would have been doing. The war also effected women by providing opportunities for them to serve in non-traditional roles; in fact, some of them enlisted into the military to serve the United States. The way the war effected women is that they had to take care of family in addition to performing work normally done by men. It was difficult to find people to watch after kids which made life during this time very difficult. After the end of World War II society in general was effected considering the baby boom.
America was put into a desperate position to allow all of America to contribute to a total war effort. America’s hand was forced to allow women and African Americans to support America domestically and later on in military and overseas. Women and African Americans stepped outside of their stereotypes, discombobulating the world, and they set into movement activism for equality, in their era and in the future. Not only was society altered, but so was the declining economy. Our withering economy inverse into a powerhouse economy due to the total war effort, broad-base labor force, allies, anticipation of another Great Depression, etc.
The war had major effects on a lot of different things. One of the biggest changes that happened after the war had started would have to be the opportunities presented to the women and African American communities. Both of these groups were not given the same opportunities before the war. After the war started they got the change that they were looking for, but continued to face limitations. Women have always played an important role in the way of life.
The Arms Race was one of the greatests events that happened in history, it also shaped history as it is today. I will take you through the Arms Race and what happened. Although foreign countries were beginning to join the war it was becoming a dangerous problem, all Humans and small businesses were being affected by the Arms Race, because everybody wanted weapons so the government wanted a greater demand for weapons and also a better police force. The Arms Race took over many people's lives and also made people very mad at the government because they were not getting any money. This made a lot of businesses shut down and put the world in a major debt.
After WWII, society took a drastic change for the better in America. America had just gone through the Great Depression, which was the deepest decline in America’s whole history and everyone was affected. Numerous people lost their jobs and were no longer able to afford basic necessities like a house, food, and water. Many could no longer support their families and had nothing. This was all in result of the market crashing, sending the economy into a downward spiral.
Impact of American Revolution through time Almost all aspects of the lives of Americans were somehow affected by the spirit of the American Revolution. The attitudes of American people towards religious life, women’s rights, voting and slavery were changed forever because of it. There was a drastic change in social and political life after independence.
