Reform was the main agenda of the Puritans of England in the post renaissance era called the interregnum. The Puritans mostly advocated for religious reform of the Church of England at this time. In the mind of the puritans, the church had become too immersed in the embellishment of ceremonies and the elaborate artistic works within the church to fully focus on the word of god and the bible. They called for an overwhelming plainness to all church affairs in order for the attention of the people to be on god and nothing but god.
