The Navajo were an immense part of the outcome of World War II. The Code Talkers consisted of Navajo Native Americans that created a code to communicate with the Marines. They also made the code nearly impossible to crack. To summarize, the Code Talkers had a large purpose in World War II.
The Navajo Native Americans played a large role in World War II. First off, they used their language to communicate coded messages. The text says,¨Navajo Code Talkers, warriors who used their native language as their primary weapon during World War II (WWII).¨ This means, The Navajo language was primarily used to tell the Allies what Japan had planned. Also, Twenty-nine Navajos created a code from their language. The selection reads,¨The first 29 Navajos to be recruited for the group, dubbed the "Original 29." The group developed the enigmatic code that would confound Japanese military cryptologists and play a major …show more content…

First off, the code was told in two different ways. The passage reads,¨¨Type One Code," the Code Talker received a string of seemingly unrelated Navajo words, translated them into English, and then used the first letter of each English word to spell out the message. In "Type Two Code," messages were sent directly in the Navajo language, translated straight from English. Many technical military terms were translated into Navajo terms that were easy to remember, such as the word pronounced "besh-lo," which meant "iron fish" and was used for "submarine."” This means, that they used words that were already created in their language that had roughly the same meaning. Also, every message was destroyed once it was read. The text says,¨"walking carriers" of the code, and each written message that was read aloud by a Code Talker was immediately destroyed.” This shows, that they were extremely secretive about the code.
