Ancient Civilizations Egypt, Mesopotamia, and India are some of the early civilizations, that helped to shape the world as we know it. Each ancient civilization had many contributions to society. Some would include irrigation, grid like house system, and written languages. Ancient Egypt is one of the most common ancient civilizations. We all know them for the pyramid but that 's not all that they achieved.
Mesopotamia was the first complex civilization to be developed. Civilizations have been well known by their means of subsistence, types of living, settlement forms, forms of government, economic systems, literacy, social stratification, and other cultural behaviors. E: Geography influenced the rise of civilization because it has to be able to maintain many people. Many civilizations started different bodies of water, because if they want to live, they have to consume water.
Ancient civilizations began in areas that had arable land and other features such as rivers. Civilizations succeeded in these environments because they could settle down and not live a nomadic lifestyle. Because the land was arable, agriculture prospered and people relied on the geography to grant them the elements needed for survival. In China and Egypt, geography greatly influenced and affected the lives of the people living there because of the prosperous rivers and large natural barriers.
How the Early Civilizations Were Alike The early civilizations- Mesopotamia, Indus River Valley, China and Egypt were very similar, and mainly rose due to the same resources: Access to Water, Government and Trade. The civilizations formed due to rich soils from nearby rivers.
Many civilizations had to deal with harsh environments while others had a very good environment. Some civilizations had to deal with deserts, mountains, rain forests, and areas with too much rain. Other civilizations had a very good settlement area such as river banks and the Mesopotamia. Tribes such as the Cherokee and the Mound Builders were in a very good geological environment. A Tribe known as the Apache didn 't live in a great area for farming but had other benefits like trading.
Egypt, Mesopotamia, Shang/Zhou dynasties/China, and the Indus Valley are all different ancient river valley civilizations. All have different aspects of civilizations. Some aspects of civilization include technology, writing/language, specialized jobs, government, etc. These decisions were made based on the climate and biome the civilization was located in. These things needed to be taken into account because certain aspects of civilization were not suitable for every civilization.
Geography can have many major effects on the historical development of empires, nations, and people. Two river valley civilizations that were greatly affected by geography were Egypt and Mesopotamia. Geography had a large part in shaping the civilizations in both Egyptian and Mesopotamian river valleys. Geography had a large part in shaping the civilization in the Egyptian river valley. For example, the Nile River provided fertile soil and a good living environment, which could not be found anywhere else in the desert.
River valleys were very critical to the Mesopotamian society to sustain their survival, and they also provided help and made life easier. Civilizations, known as "complex societies" had requirements for it to be called a "civilization." Those requirements consist of cities, organized government, art, religion, class divisions, and a writing system. People had to find food to eat and something to drink to stay alive. They notice that the rivers valleys were filled with fish and water to drink so they could stay alive.
In the Ancient world, Life began around rivers. Throughout this essay I will be comparing and contrasting two of the prominent ancient civilizations, the Egyptians and the Sumerians. They had many cultural and governmental differences between them. Below are some examples. To start, each civilization began next to a river(s).

In Mesopotamia they used the Tigris and Euphrates river to trade with neighboring civilizations. In Egypt they used the Nile river to trade with other civilizations. In India they used the Indus and the Ganges river to trade.
Civilization is the cooperation between individuals within a region. The first civilizations were Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations. Both civilizations acquired a different environment. However, their environment promoted religion, specifically polytheism. Although their environments were different, both civilizations were in harmony about the existence of many gods.
The earliest ancient river-valley civilizations, Nile, Huang He, Tigris-Euphrates, and Indus, all began between 5500- 2000 BCE. Due to the near identical environmental states and the bare necessities needed to establish a ruling class, all of these civilizations had many similarities. While the majority of these civilizations’ structure was close to homogenous, differences in culture and city planning emerged. The reason that government was established, increasing of social inequality, and the building of large socially beneficial projects were all similarities of these ancient societies, yet religion, rights, and the types of technological advances were remarkable differences between the civilizations.
Ancient Egypt was the most advance civilization of antiquity. They had fairly advance Medicine, Architecture, Religion, and were also wise in philosophy. Greek culture learned a lot from Egypt, and they constantly referred to them and sought to find their ancestors in Egypt. The Nile was a fundamental element for the flourishing of the civilization of ancient Egypt, most of the population of cities were in the Nile valley and the Delta. The Nile was vital to Egyptian culture from the stone age.

Egypt was built around the very strong and reliable Nile River. Ancient Mesopotamia was established in the fertile crescent between the less reliable Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.
