You walk into the most popular zoo in your state. You’re fascinated by all the variety of animals from opposite habitats that can all live in one place without problems. Then you start to notice how different their behavior is from when you learned about animals in school. You find it odd. Zoos have been around for a long time. They used to just be small amounts of animals that were being properly taken care of. Most zoos now focus on the entertainment for people and to do research on the animals, but controversy is starting on whether or not all those animals should be kept in confined spaces where they can’t behave normally like in their natural habitats. Even though some species were able to thrive and grow again after being endangered, animals who are healthy and have no problems in the wild shouldn’t be kept in zoos because they start losing their natural senses and habits that were needed in the wild, strange behavior is seen to appear while they’re in confined spaces, and the need for baby animals starts unnecessary forced breeding that can overpopulate their already crowded …show more content…

The people who work in zoos are the ones who feed them on a certain schedule so the animals will get used to relying on someone else to get them food. Their interactions with other animals is taken away which isolates them and only lets them communicate with only their species. Some animals may be endangered in their habitats or have been hurt so they need to be taken in to recover, but spending too much time in the man-made habitats where everything is provided will make them forget some instincts they needed to survive in the wild. Relying on people in zoos to give them food and always getting checked up for their health will be dangerous if they ever get released and will be forced to hunt for prey and use their instincts and survival skills that were
