Many animals across the country are waiting in a cold shelter for someone to adopt them only for them to not get the love they deserve. When they become euthanized.There are some non-euthanizing animal shelters but not all shelters are. This is a fight that needs to be fought. We are the voices for the animals who don’t have a voice.
One reason why the animals are being euthanized is because the shelters are too over populated. You may say that this is a good reason. Did you know this though? According to aspca.org “Of the cats entering shelters, approximately 37% are adopted, 41% are euthanized, and less than 5% of cats who came in as strays are returned to their owner”. You may say that that is a valid reason, but did it ever occur to you that it’s not the animals fault that they are aggressive? It is the past owner’s fault. According to animalhumane.org “shelters euthanized — approximately 2.7 million animals in just these 1,000 shelters. These animals may have been euthanized due to overcrowding, but may also have been sick, aggressive, injured or suffering from something else.” Is this really what you want them to be euthanized for? Aggression that may not even be their fault? Most animals can have their aggression fixed.
Another reason that they should not be euthanized is because animals love you unconditionally. So why wouldn’t you love them? You may say that sometimes animals can be too much. The problem with that is there are always places that you can put your animal that will not kill it because the shelter is overpopulated. Euthanizing an animal just because a shelter is overpopulated is not a reason. If an animal really loves you then why would you want to kill it just because you can not keep it anymore?
