Montag is a fireman who is pain to burn books that are reported in households. While in today's society, firemen help prevent fires from causing more damage to houses; that is not the case in Fahrenheit 451.

Going to college for many students is just a normal part of life. It is what will enable them to get an education that eventually will lead to get a well-paid job and the resources and the status to live a comfortable life. But for college professor, Andrew Delbanco, the American college has a higher purpose. In the article “College at Risk”, Delbanco states that colleges should be promoting critical thinking among students, through knowledge of the past and the interaction with each other; as well as, help them discover their talents and passions and figure out what they want to do in life. This type of education is called liberal arts and for Delbanco, it represents the ideal education.
Is College the Best Option College is a place that people go to study in and get their degrees. College helps students get educational and be more knowledgeable. Also, it teaches them who to take responsibilities and do their works. College helps students and gives them a degree which will help them get a better job. In life we make tons of decisions and one thing for sure and two things for certain is that we tend to make a lot of decisions in college. So many choices are made while attending school, for instance; being prepared allows you to disregard some of the anxiety we may have as students. Being determined on the other hand allows you to be focused on one accord, to maintain, to achieve in higher learning or whatever you may be focused on. Decisions we make or inquire going to college helps us receive a better understanding of what we want out of school, how we go about things we encounter or also, to achieve what has been planned for us. Critical thinking can be defined in many different ways. My definition of critical thinking entails seeking the best way to resolve a problem. As the assigned article has stated, there are many conflicts in today’s graduates because they are not used to critical thinking and finding the solution on their own; instead, they are used to following the orders they are given. For example, there are certain ways to solve a math problem; some math problems give you a formula and others have specific rules to solving them. Like, “x+5=15” and these types of problems are just regurgitated out and marked on paper for a grade.
King has provided his opinion about education is building character. Dr. King uses his words to create an audience awareness to think for yourself isn’t the same as you may call it critical thinking. Against the common assumption that colleges should teach their students “critical reasoning,” Dr. King argues that critical thinking alone is insufficient and even dangerous. Teaching one to think critically is no small task. Most students learn by constructing knowledge based on an engaged learning process rather than by absorbing knowledge from passive sources.
