This can influence them to feel insecure about themselves and lose self confident, especially if they don't fit into a certain category. Girls are being labeled, fat, skinny, lame etc. These role models that they encounter in magazines may not to be the best people to look up to. In the United States 20 million women suffer from eating disorders, so of these eating disorder come from the influence on magazines and the how they glamorise thin girls. With eating disorders comes to loss of confidence and young women become insecure about themselves which can have a great affect on what they do. When young women take on extreme diets, they may be lacking the consumption of key nutrients the body needs to run smoothly. Everyday health quotes that eating disorder cause long term effects if they are not treated such as, heart disease, bone loss, muscle weakness and, hair and skin problems.
