Isn't it startling that Professional Athlete Lebron James made $71 million dollars last year, But the president of the united states- who runs the whole entire country didn't make that much? With this information, do professional athletes really deserve their salaries from playing a sport? Many professional athletes get paid millions of dollars. Some people think that these people are overpaid, others believe that athletes deserve their pay, because they have many injures which leads on to expensive medical bills for their treatment. I believe that athletes do get overpaid. First, most of us in the world, you and your parents would have to work 3 lifetimes to have acquired enough money for you to have the same amount as a professional athlete which makes about 2 million in a year. Relating to the text on page 24 the author said “Athletes do deserve to make a decent living. They inspire and entertain us, and they work hard. Training can be grueling. Injuries are a constant threat, especially in contact sports like football and hockey. But there are plenty of people who have difficult and dangerous jobs, and no one is handing them exorbitant sums of money.”

Secondly, It is true that most professional athletes have a small window to make money for their life (5-6 years), but most professional athletes can go into other jobs like a sport commentator and coaches and many more. An average income for those jobs can be about 6 million a year. Also, In the article it states “ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Kelly's deal with the 49ers is for four years, $24 million. While that $6 million per year salary is a slight dip from the $6.5 million a season he was pulling down in Philadelphia, it still makes Kelly one of the NFL's highest paid
