In The Hunger Games, a dystopian novel by Suzanne Collins, people are divided into 13 districts with one district missing. These districts are used to care for the capital's needs such as coal, agriculture, and entertainment. The capital, Panem, is a totalitarian and dictatorship government who use their powers to control and punish districts through the use of the hunger games. Despite hardships, Love, Loyalty, and Compassion are very prevalent in the book. The three reasons why Love, Loyalty, and Compassion are prevalent in The Hunger Games are because of love, kindness, friendship, and Katniss’ sisterly love. First, the reason why LLC is prevalent in the book is because of kindness. Characters like Peeta show compassion by caring for others, even when it puts them at a disadvantage in the games. In Chapter 20, Peeta states, “No” [Peeta] says, “You’re not risking your life for me”(Collins 270). Despite Peeta being in such a bad situation, he still shows compassion for others. He had the chance to cure and recover himself, but he decided not to because he is more worried about Katniss. This shows that some people are selfless, even when in danger. Another reason why LLC is prevalent throughout the book is friendship. The loyalty between Katniss, Peeta, and their allies demonstrates the strength of friendship in the face of adversity.
