As humans we have many things we wish we could control like our lives, the people around us, and at times the whole world! If we could be born with one super power I’d chose mind control without a doubt. Life would be so much easier but with power comes great responsibility and I’m barely dealing with my responsibilities now. Unfortunately, having super powers is impossible but there are ways people can be controlled. In recent times the refugee crisis has been growing Warsan Shire the author of “Home”, visually describes how controlling fear really is during this crisis. History has also shown how people can be controlled, the poem “The Chimney Sweeper” by William Blake shows how during the 17th through 18th century children were forced to be chimney sweepers and it was taking their lives rapidly. A woman may be on “the ongoing quest for individual material gain” while looking for a partner, money may be a motive if that is something they lack and desperately need (Gardner 1350). This theory also expresses how “oppressed workers lose their sense of individual humanity” (Gardner 1351). This was the case during the Industrial Revolution, it was like these people forgot that the Chimney Sweepers were still children. They were sold and abandoned as if they were property. People knew the job was killing these children yet when one died they’d just look for another because the job needed to be done regardless. Lastly, refugees can be considered “powerless victims of powerful oppressors” they are forced out of their homes, at times by people that are supposed to protect them (Gardner 1350). At times their religious beliefs are frowned upon by their government for this reason they are pushed out their countries and can never
