Why Does Gene Lose His Innocence

Yes, I do think Gene kills his innocence. I do not think Gene killed his innocence on purpose, thought. I believe that if Gene knew his actions would be the result in Finny’s death, that he would not have done anything, and as a result, keep his innocence. As soon as Gene shook the tree limb, he killed the innocence that he had and matured. The effects that followed that prove that he “killed”, or lost his innocence. He grew up and matured because he killed his innocence by ruining someone else’s life for his own selfish desires. Like when he had to admit that it was his fault he fell out of the tree, that took guts and meant he lost his innocence. I do not know if I would use the word ‘kill”, but he definitely lost his innocence. I believe
