Why Grit Is Important To Success In College

Grit is more than just working really hard for something important, it is the way ones keep fighting for something and don’t give up. Angela Duckworth a psychologist/teacher found the out the importance of grit and started looking after who uses it, to see if they will more likely succeed than the others with no grit or only with talent. In college people has to work their way to the top and not stop until they get there, keep working to get their degree and be successful in life. Grit is important to success in college because ones have to take classes that will be hard for them and meet with obstacles but without grit people would not be able to solve those problems go through those obstacles and reach their goals and be successful in life

People are not always successful even if they have a high IQ. Many studies proved that people with grit will achieve more than people with high IQ. “Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals. Grit is having stamina. Grit is sticking with your future, day in, day out, not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years, and working really hard to make that future a reality. Grit is living life like it's a marathon, not a sprint” (Duckworth). By that, Duckworth means that you have to work day to day without giving up on your future goals you have to keep going until you reach your goals you cannot achieve fast but you have to keep working hard. Also there are counter examples for using grit too much and by that preventing us from achieving a different goal, there are only a few cases where that happened but it did and it means it could happen to anyone. I could use myself as an example, from Hungary in the middle of Europe I achieved to come to the US and go to school here while I can still play water polo, this was my goal but since I reached it now I have a higher goal to achieve to get in a four year university. You have to put your goals high enough so you can fight for them it’s not going to be easy but you cannot give up on your dreams you have to work until you get there it will take a lot of sacrifice but at the end you can say “I did it” and that is how grit
