Brandon is a high school senior who is trying to decide if he should go to college. He would like to further his education, and he knows that going to college would increase his chances of being a successful businessman; however, he does not want to be thousands of dollars in debt when he graduates. Brandon sees that both of his parents graduated from college and are both working good paying jobs, but they are still in debt. His best friend Shawn’s parents did not go to college, and they do not work steady jobs, but they live debt free. Although most high school graduates attend college, some do not because the cost of tuition is steadily rising. They live in fear of having to dropout early because they cannot afford it. Students could obtain a full scholarships to college if they exhibit high academic grades and score high on the ACT or by playing sports and participating in various activities. This would relieve stress off of them and their parents because they would not have to pay out of pocket for college expenses. If more students had full scholarships to go to college, dropout rates would decrease.
In addition, going to a school that is less expensive would ensure that a student would not have to dropout early for financial reasons, and they are more likely to graduate college debt free. Many students believe that expensive institutions guarantee a better education and more job opportunities. This is not true because students who attend smaller schools receive the same education as students who attend a larger school. It is what the students does with that education that
