They seek to gain knowledge, to be exposed to ideas and philosophies that will enhance their lives. One of the main reasons to obtain a college education is the hope of using it to find a job that will enable them to live a comfortable life with a financially secured future. Some students go with the hope of meeting that one special person who will always care for them. Some students go to college so that they can move up in life.
According to the reading "Why Go to College" in my ENF book, students have many reasons for attending college. One reason for learning is to adapt to new situations. College is far more different from high school; consequently, adapting to the college atmosphere often takes more time. Another reason is to learn about different cultures and people through this experience. A third reason is to be able to better deal with advances in knowledge and technology that are changing the world as the world is filled with technology because new things are invented every day.
I want to go to college because I want to grow as a learner and improve myself as a person. I believe people continue to learn throughout their lives even after finishing their main education; whether it be through technological advances or new discoveries made by researchers, we never stop learning. I hope that in college I will acquire the skill to learn independently according to my interests and needs in order to continue learning even after I’ve finished my college education. Since I was young I have had curiosity as one of my personality traits; I want to ensure that I will be able to satisfy that itch when it appears after I graduate.
Why do you want to go to college? Ironically, this question was first asked of me by my parents. This was a long time ago and the world was a different place.
Why do I want to attend college? College is an honorary achievement and it separates the determined from the undetermined. Owning a college to degree is an honor and an ecstatic feeling. Through college, that job is that much closer in the grasp. Through college, a person can perform at an elite level and really push themselves for greatness.
While trying to decide where I would like to go to college, I have come across three schools that are very different, but have positives and negatives to each one. Those colleges being Indiana University Bloomington, Ball State University, and Hanover College. IU is ranked one hundred fourteenth out of six hundred on Forbes America’s Top Colleges list, Hanover is ranked two hundred forty-seventh, and Ball State is ranked five hundred sixty-second (“America’s Top Colleges”). Whether it’s a small school like Hanover or a much larger one like Indiana University Bloomington, there is something unique each school has to offer. Going into college, I plan to pursue a degree in nursing, with the intent of ultimately becoming a nurse practitioner.
I have spent countless hours trying to make the right decision on where I should start my journey to success. After deliberating it, I have decided to attend Augustana College in Rock Island. Augustana is a medium private liberal art college that is located in Rock Island, Illinois. I feel that Augustana has what I need to complete the goals I have set for myself. I plan to major in psychology or double major in pre medical and psychology.
Doing what I love and being able to support myself and loved ones is important to me. I am a very independent person and I like to do things my way. I like to set individual goals everyday, whether that means doing my homework before a certain time, or completing something for the week. They help me get my work done on time and efficiently.
Being an immigrant from Mexico to the United States has opened many doors for me. Having the ability to attend college is one of those opportunities that I have had the privilege to take. Tommy Hilfiger once said “The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it is possible to achieve a dream.” At this point in my life my dream that I wish to make reality is to attend and graduate from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Another reason why students should go to college so they can be ready for the real world. Other than working with different people, college students will have to take action and responsibility on their own. For instance, they will have to wake up and be on time for their classes, get there work done and then have time for themselves. “You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great. “Les Brown.
Though there are many, the main reasons that I am getting a college education is to learn about what I am passionate about, to have more career options, and for financial security. The most important reason that I am going to college, first and foremost, is to learn. When I was younger, I always knew I wanted to study people. However, the thought of studying anthropology and sociology-type subjects never sat well with me; these subjects reeked of subjectivism and a not-so-subtle vibe of “you’ll never get a job with that”.
I have lost sleep for several nights just wondering what my life would be like one day. What do I want to study in college? What do I want to work in? Who am I going to marry? Where will I live?
College. It is something I have been thinking about ever since I started attending school. I thought about what I wanted to do and what kind of person I wanted to be. I was not sure at first until an exciting trip to Maryland changed everything for me. I remember back in sophomore year when I was starting to worry because there was no careers that interested me.
The future is a big worry to many students as they go approach high school and graduation. Some have no idea what they want to do with life. Some students have known what they aspire to do even back to their freshman year. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my future until this year, my senior year. I definitely know now that I want to go to college after high school.
so when I start my career I can be prepared. My mother was not able to go to a university when she graduated high school because she became pregnant with me. Because of her struggles, she has always instilled in me that graduating from a four-year university is the most important thing to do in my life. If I went to college, I would have a bright and successful future because I would be fully developed into a responsible and well-rounded young
