Education is very important to all of us as we decide what type of career we want. While I attended public schools growing up, I always thought about attending college. However, I became prepared for college when I attended Heritage High School through academic programs such as taking advanced placement classes, listening to advice from guidance counselors, and developing intelligent study habits to pursue my goals. One way I prepared for college while in high school was taking AP classes. Since AP classes are more difficult than standard class I had to put forth my best. AP generally means Advanced Placement. It is a national program that allowed me to take college level courses as a high school student and get college credit for them. In these classes I was taught college-level academic skills. The classes are made up of students with a strong commitment to excellence in learning and problem solving. I also was in AVID, which help gear me towards going to college. AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness program designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college. The guidance counselors had set up several different college meetings with me as a junior and senior to see if I had any ideas of what I wanted to do about college.
