I love kids, but couldn’t quite figure out if I wanted to go in the medical field or the educational field. I figured the pros and cons of a child practitioner and an elementary school teacher. The person who inspired me the most in make the final decision was Mrs. Savannah Callahan who works at South Caldwell High School. This is her first year teaching here. She is the first teacher to understand my test anxiety and helped me threw it last semester. SHe always found some different way for us to learn and she changed it up a lot. although we were a troubled class and she had problems with most kids in there that did not stop her from teaching the kids who did want to learn and want to pass. Some skills you need to have to be a elementary school teacher is Communication skills, teachers need to discuss students’ needs with parents and administrators. They also need to be able to communicate the subject content to students in a manner in which they will understand. Patience, working with students of different abilities and backgrounds can be difficult. Kindergarten and elementary school teachers must respond with patience when students struggle with material. Physical stamina, working with kindergarten and elementary-aged students can be tiring. Teachers need to be able to physically, mentally, and emotionally keep up with the students.
