Katelyn Ross English II Career Paper 8 March 2024 Recreational Therapist My career that I chose is Recreational Therapy. I have been interested in this career since my mom got in a motorcycle accident and had to go through Physical Therapy. I believe I am a decently helpful person and I like to talk and help people. What grabbed my interest is that I can help people and get them back on their feet and be more active. My mom went through a lot after the motorcycle accident so I really want to help people like she helped. Recreational Therapy involves a lot of patience and understanding. Recreational Therapists need to get very creative sometimes with things, so I will need to be creative. I’m not very patient, but I will need to work on my patience so I don’t get frustrated with whom I am working with. You will need to have good time management skills. A Recreational Therapist makes about $26.49 an hour. The yearly salary is around $32,000 (“Wages & Outlook”). In the U. S. Recreational Therapists make around $7,875 per month. The statewide average pay per hour is $24.25. The highest pay per hour for Recreational Therapists is $33.22. Technology Recreational Therapists use is email software. I will need Microsoft Outlook (“Microsoft Technology”). Recreational Therapists need a Microsoft PowerPoint. Something else is Avid Technology Sibelius. Another thing I will need is Steinberg Cubase Pro. The demand for Recreational Therapists is a good amount and there are some close places to me. The closest is St.Louis, MO (“Job Outlook”). Recreational Therapists have a few opportunities with different types of therapists. There are a lot of part-time openings. I would rather have full time.
