What do you want to be when you grow up? Well as a kid I have always wanted to be a vet. I’ve always liked animals. I loved to have them around. As I grew older my love for them grew even more. I thought about having my own business. Almost everyone has a love for animals. Some people even get the honor of taking care of them. Those people are called veterinarians. Being a veterinarian takes a lot of hard work, so here are the steps. First, being veterinarian takes a lot of time and energy. You need to find a really good college. There are roughly 30 colleges in the U.S. with veterinary programs. These veterinary programs take about 4 years to complete. They include classroom, laboratory, and clinical components. Students usually spend their final year doing clinical rounds in a veterinary medical center or hospital. Future vets study many different programs. Programs include 3 years of classroom, laboratory, and clinical work. These programs also require math, humanities, and social science courses.The American Veterinary Medical Association offers certification in 40 specialties, these specialties include surgery, microbiology, and internal medicine.
