I am a full time student in College of Marin and have applied the Nursing program of Sonoma State University for fall semester of 2016. I also have two caregiver jobs and work as a Hospital Corpsman in the NAVY Reserve. I like to challenge myself. As an immigrant who came to the United States five years ago, it is difficult to study another language at my late twenty; it is more difficult for me to be a two daughters’ father, a full time student and working three jobs at the same time; the most challenge for me is maintaining an excellent GPA against all the obstacles. I barely use English when I was in China. Language became the first and biggest obstacle for me to live in the United States. However, I did not give up and I started to learn English at a local ESL community school. After 1 year studying in the ESL class, I have mastered the basic grammar, reading, and speaking skills. One day, I decided to join U.S. NAVY. I prepared one month the ASVEB exam, which is a military entry exam. I got a 93% on this exam at the top of 5% people who took the exam at the same time in the United States. I chose a Hospital Corpsman as my rate in the NAVY. In the NAVY Boot Camp, even though I was struggling at beginning because the yelling and screaming all over the place, I graduated top of my division. Because of my excellent exam score in the Boot Camp, I got early promote from E1 TO E3. After Boot Camp, I went to the NVAY A School in San Antonio to study EMT and interlineate nursing fundamental class. After four month accelerating study, being a self-motivated, goal-oriented person, I was to achieve a 95 grade point average and a place on the Dean’s Honors List. After finished the NAVY A school, I came back to the bay area. In order to become a Nurse Corps Officer, I started to study my nursing prerequisite class in College of Marin. During two year study in College of Marin, I got average GPA of 3.8 based on 61 accumulated units, and I got all As for my nursing prerequisite
