Why I Want To Pursue My Honor Degree In Computer Networking

798 Words4 Pages

In two years of my high school career, I have taken two career and technical education courses, IET core and Networking Fundamentals R&S/LAN, and I will receive an honor certificate in the computer networking pathway. As I begin the pathway, we cover the basics of the design process, and we learn to utilize the process in various applications. When we progress throughout the pathway, we delve into more of the specifics in regards to computer networking. With computer networking, we developed an understanding of routers, switches, networks, and other components that all seem to interconnect with each other in order to ensure that everything is functioning properly. This would be the basis of information that was taught in class, but a few concepts especially …show more content…

One concept that I remember learning about in my IET class was the basics of circuitry. In the circuitry aspect of the class, we only learned the basics, so we learned about the different configurational set-ups, and we physically worked with breadboards, resistors, wires, and such to create some set-ups on our own. Many people would very well question the usage and application of this particular concept, but I see a very clear picture. In this age that we live in, electronics have taken precedence in our daily lives. Whether I choose to engage in the IT field, engineering, or even teaching, I will be exposed to using technology, and with the knowledge of circuits, I may have an advantage at finding the source of certain problems. Another particular concept was the way to properly configure a secure router. Now I emphasize secure because from taking this class, I learned about the span of malicious viruses and attacks that can occur, and the last thing you want to find out is someone hacked into your router. Therefore, learning to configure a router is important because specifying a hostname, inputting both a login password and encrypted password into different configuration modes, and
