What is Important to You?
Many people feel the need to leave their own country and migrate to the united states and add a better life for themselves, family, and loved ones. The thought of coming to America is difficult and challenging to achieve. With the current democratic presidents, we have people thinking there’s a possibility to adjust their status. From what my family has experienced I can tell you that once crossing over the fine line you can definitely feel the weight of the laws on your shoulders and the fear that comes with it. In the past year, police officers have overused their power to mistreat illegal immigrant’s and many immigrants have been killed trying to cross the border. This is an injustice to the immigration laws. Some deportations are unjustified and downright despicable. There have been cases where officers will rip up former immigrant papers just to deport them back. My father’s friend named henry came to the united states looking for the same goal as anybody else who crosses that fine line. He worked with my dad at a bakery, and yes he was illegal but he worked hard. One day he didn’t show up to work and everyone wondered where he was. Turns out he was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and got caught without papers. Police came around houses looking for a suspicious character around the neighborhood, and the police came and knocked on the door. Henry opened because the owner wasn’t home, and since he didn’t speak good English they asked for his papers and he couldn’t give it to them so they arrested him on the spot and deported him back days later. Deportations like this are absolutely despicable. Henry wasn’t a drug dealer or an alcoholic he was a decent man just trying to make a living for his family back in his
