Babe ruth was a professional baseball player who was especially known for his ability to hit home runs. He had a major impact in the 1920s and in the 1930s. Babe an important baseball player and an important person. Babe Ruth provided inspiration to the other players on his team and all of the Americans that looked up to him.
Lou Gehrig was an American baseball player who played for the MLB team the New York Yankees. He was a first baseman and excellent batter who rose from the ranks of poverty to be one of the greatest baseball players ever known. Lou was raised by a family of immigrants and played football and baseball in high school through college, impressing scouts by striking out a total of 17 batters. He set the record for consecutive games played with 2,130 and got the nickname the iron horse for his resilience for his hardworking nature and playing through even the worst of pains. His career finally ended in 1939 when he was diagnosed with ALS (Aldrich).

But little did he know, he would become one of the best players of all time. Babe Ruth revolutionized baseball by becoming one of the best players out there influencing kids everywhere to want to play baseball.
Mr. Ruth socially changed the world, sports no longer became just sports, and were now a social aspect of life. People who showed up and went to sports games were then a somebody. People from all over the US traveled to watch Mr. Ruth swing his bat and hope that he would hit a home run like he could and was known for. Despite this, women were able to make a huge impact on America through social reforms. Many young women went against the beliefs of their parents. Prior to the Roaring Twenties, America was in a Victorian era. Women wore dresses that were floor-length, their hair was long and premarital sex was almost non-existent. During the 1920’s however, some women became what are known as “flappers”.
The 1920’s were a very exciting and well remembered time era for the changes the way sports are played today. During this time period watching as well as playing sports became much more popular as a method of relaxation or a way to spend some free time having fun, just as it is today. Babe Ruth’s outstanding skill and dedication changed the game of ball since people of all races and colors would watch his games, and was a huge role model to many young kids, giving them a dream to someday become a great player just like him. Babe Ruth’s record setting performances brought a whole new social life to people in the 20’s.
