Deliberation and debate have different actions and meaning as to what they do and stand for, basically its purpose. Deliberation is actually different from debate because, deliberation is a long and careful discussion based on the public interest or common good of the people. However, debate is based on a public meeting or legislative assembly, in which opposing arguments are put forward. Although, deliberation and debate is based on long discussions they do not relate to the same meaning or action. Deliberation is all about being a rational thinker and it does not have to be perfect but as long as there is some sort of direction and common good to help others. For example, there can be a discussion about abortion, drug legalization, minimum wage, and more. These topics are argued for many different reasons, they can either be considered good or bad but that is why is a debate. I do not consider debate a problem however, it gives the government power on certain topics because they are the ones to make the decisions as to what happens next. I would not blame them because, for example if the public wants to legalize marijuana then it would not just be a debate but because of the common good for the public certain decisions will have to be made that the government may not even agree to. Debate is like a restriction, the public may have a say but they do not get to make any decisions. The good and bad thing about debate is that everyone does not think alike or even agree on everything which is understandable because everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. It makes the discussion much more interesting and the people can see for themselves who really wants to help or has the intentions to serve good for the public or who simply believes that the government should not give it all away.
