“Desiree’s Baby” by Kate Chopin is a story in which the character Desiree, walks into a swamp, carrying her baby, and never returns which brings the reader to infer that they both died. Although Desiree might be thinking that there is no future for me or this baby, Desiree’s decision to walk into the swamp carrying her baby is wrong because Suicide is never okay, and Murder is wrong and messed up. The most important reason Desiree should not have taken the life of her baby nor her own is because Murder is not okay. Desiree had so many options that would have helped this baby to live. Desiree could have given the baby to her mother and then taken her own life. It is a parents' responsibility to care for their child. Desiree could have moved to the north where her color does not matter. Desiree could have moved to France, her parents are very wealthy. If Desiree truly didn't want the baby she could have left the baby with her mother and then moved to the north. Because the Desiree’s Adoptive parents, the Valmondes, were originally from France, Desiree could have gone to France. France has no rules against African Americans, so her baby could have had an amazing life there. Desiree had so many options about what she wanted to do with her life, and yet she chose the worst
