In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury their society is lacking three elements that our society is also missing. Faber talks about why books are important. In our society we don 't appreciate books and their value. In Faber’s society they don 't read books, so Faber is telling both societies why books have quality and are important. Quality to Faber in Fahrenheit 451’s society menas “texture. This book has pores. It has features, this book can go under a microscope, you 'd find life under the glass, streaming past in infinite profusion.” (pg. 81) Quality is more than what a book is made out of and how well it 's put together. In our society we jump to conclusions we don 't “digest” we assume what something is just by something as simple as looking or glancing at something. “Modern life is so complex, that it is very easy to see what we expect to see, and ignore all the stuff that isn’t quite what we expect. It seems that we have an overabundance of people willing to make money by any means, at the expense of any human values.” The right to act in Fahrenheit 451’s society means “to carry out actions” (pg.81) based on quality and leisure. Faber explains that we don 't take time and break things apart. We look at a book and don 't think twice to take time to break the book down and understand it. We have a problem with the right to act in our society because we don 't go in depth. We don 't look at what something really means. To me the right to act means to do something the right way the first time. To not do something half way to fully understand something the first time. Faber tells everyone books are important in today 's society. He tells everyone they have quality and leisure. We need to appreciate book and their value.
