Why Is Fahrenheit 451 So Outlawed

In Montag’s society, they believe that books should be destroyed. In the society that Montag lives in, they turned the firemen into full time book burners. It even says in the text,”with this great python spitting its venomous kerosene upon the world.”(Bradbury pg.3) What the text is saying, is that instead of the hose spraying water it is like a python spraying its deadly venom, which is kerosene. Montag, the book’s main character, is a firemen himself. Society wants the books to be destroyed, because they thought that the books made people unhappy. In the book it says”today, thanks to them, you can stay happy all the time.”(Bradbury pg.58) Another reason the books were outlawed, was because they were believed to be dangerous. Society
