Football language makes you a much more effective communicator than Black English since it’s been around. The vocabulary is very precise and it is easier to understand rather than Black English. The terms, the expressions, and the phrases are very beneficial for people to understand. The only way you can understand the language is if you get the aspect of what the game of football really is first. The one rule is that the ball has to cross the goaline mark. It is the same equivalent as scoring a touchdown. The line represents the toughness and will power that you possess depending on how coaches want to perceive their teams. Also the goaline is kind of a security blank for any football team. When you kick the ball past the goaline on either a punt or a kickoff and it passes the goaline entirely you don’t have to start from the position that you’re in. The ball is set back up at the twenty yard line where teams have to proceed from there. Everyday phrases that you hear on the football like “first & ten” or “route tree,” are things you hear all the time on the football field. First & Ten is a phrase that means you have a new set of downs. For example, when you hear first & ten you’ve made progress by moving down the field to give you a better chance to score. Route tree are different route combinations that skill players run. For instance, in a route tree if a coach were to say run a two route, then you would run a slant.
