Franklin D. Roosevelt was a very influential politician and leader during the 20th century. Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal he enacted during the Great Depression would help many Americans get through the Great Depression (“Franklin D. Roosevelt”). His leadership and actions has shown that he was a good leader, capable of helping Americans even in the darkest of times. His Pearl Harbor Address after the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japanese forces would help rally Americans to defend themselves from Japanese aggression (“Franklin D. Roosevelt”). Once again during his presidency FDR would have to lead America through a time of grave danger for the United States. Roosevelt would have to do at America's entry into WW2 was bandage the wounds America had after the Pearl Harbor attack. His Pearl Harbor Address would seal himself as a great leader of American history.His speech would comfort the American people during a time when America was threatened and under attack. “With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph so help us God '' (The Pearl Harbor Address 1941). His faith in the American people and America's armed forces would help Americans overcome their fear of the enemy. His speech would also inspire and rally the American people to the cause of defending America. “No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory” (The Pearl Harbor Address 1941). In this quote he is telling the American people to show strength and to not give into the aggressors. FDR would also give Americans hope and a promise to the American people that they will overcome this threat and that it will never happen
