Known as the Green River Killer, Gary Leon Ridgway is one of the United States’ most infamous criminals. Ridgway was born on February 18, 1949; he is currently 67 years old. He attended school in King County, Washington, where he was held back 2 grades. After he graduated high school at Tyee High, he briefly worked at Kenworth trucking and later enrolled in the military in 1969. Ridgway married his first wife that he had dated for several years during his military service. While in the Navy, he was located in the Philippines where he used prostitutes for the first time. After returning and going through a divorce, Ridgway returned to his work as a truck painter for Kenworth located by East Marginal Way South, a few miles north of the stretch of PHS where he later picked up many of his victims. Ridgway remained a worker for Kenworth as a painter for 30 years until his arrest in 2001. In 1973, Ridgway became married once again to another wife and had moved all over the place with her. During the fall of 1975, Ridgway and his wife had a son together. After Ridgway was captured his second wife said that he enjoyed having sex outdoors and engaging in bondage. She also said that Ridgway would be gone for a long time most nights, often returning dirty or wet. As the years continued, he ran out of logical explanation for his late returnings. His wife noted that Ridgway enjoyed practicing walking noiselessly. One day, Ridgway decided to sneak up behind his wife and “jokingly” hold her in a police chokehold. The relationship soon deteriorated. Ridgway bought his own house and was married once again in 1988.
