The Tragedy of Hamlet Prince of Denmark is authored by William Shakespeare, a seventeenth century playwright and poet known for his plays. It is a elaborate and full story with sympathetic and abhorrent characters the audience can understand all too well. It entails elements of betrayal, loyalty and inaction. The Lion King is a Disney movie with general plot of Hamlet where, a king is murdered for his throne. While the Lion King has some character and plot resemblances, its differences is what marks the gap between a children's movie to a richly told story.
William Shakespeare in the play, Hamlet (1599), asserts that people should not act too fast with revenge. Shakespeare supports his thoughts by illustrating how Hamlet deals with the murder of his father, through diction, tone, simile and personification. The author’s purpose is to illustrate how Hamlet dealt with avenging his father's death, so the audience will understand that one should not act too quickly with revenge. The author writes in a dark and uncertain tone for middle aged play goers. The play starts out when the ghost of Hamlet’s Father comes to Hamlet telling him that his Uncle Claudius killed Hamlet’s Father so that Claudius could become the new King.
Hamlet is written by Shakespeare between 1599-1602. The prince, Hamlet, is torn between the decision to act upon his father’s death, and avenge him by killing his father’s murderer, or to be a decent human and not commit murder, “To be, or not to be? That is the question…”(Act 3 Scene 1). Although, since this play is a tragedy, everyone dies anyways.
Hamlet is a powerful story of love, life, revenge, and death. The themes within the play are written to live on for eternity. It is difficult to fully and accurately represent a play as great as this one. The movie that we watched in class did not wholly represent the wonders and the magnitude of the themes within Shakespeare’s work.
The character of Hamlet is expressed as a protagonist. His irritated attitude towards Claudius in scene 2 of act 1 leaves the audience with a clear first impression of his nature. He is deceitful of the king, his uncle Claudius who is now the ruler of Denmark after his brothers “death”, and disgusted of his mother marrying his uncle. Hamlet is an example of someone who has compromised his happiness, in order to avenge his father’s murder.
William Shakespeare, known all over the world for his thirty-eight plays, poems, and one hundred and fifty-four sonnets, is studied all over the earth. One of his most popular plays is Hamlet. Hamlet is one of Shakespeare’s tragic plays involving a quest for vengeance, betrayal between siblings, and the banishment of Hamlet. Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564, and the Black Plague struck his town that very same year. His father, John Shakespeare, was a glove and leather make.
"Hamlet" is surely the most intricate, interesting and celebrated tragedy by Shakespeare, but why is it so famous? First of all, the author was able to involve multiple themes such as revenge, love, friendship, madness, life, death in a single tragedy which is full of symbolism, allegories and cryptic meanings that are slowly captured by the reader. Secondly, Shakespeare defined perfectly his characters; the reader can relate to them because they are more than names written on a sheet of paper: they are humans, they think, act, speak and feel like we do everyday. Hamlet's character is the perfect example of a teenager that has insecurities, doubts, fears, deep thoughts, hidden emotions and he also has to face obstacles just as we do today:
Macbeth, the tragedy by the renowned William Shakespeare. The complexity and intensity of the characters in Macbeth is what makes the play one of the most popular plays and arguably the most intense play due to intensity of its action and its portrayal of human relationships. Throughout the whole play the ‘heroic’ and ‘villainous’ characters are constantly switching around leaving the audience confused about which character to trust. In the play, Lady Macbeth is more culpable of King Duncan’s murder, but as the play slowly progresses, Lady Macbeth 's conscience seems to have grown clearer but Macbeth transforms from the once noble and loyal soldier to the power crazed tyrant that will kill anybody who threaten his throne. Macbeth is certainly by far the most evil character in the play.

In William Shakespeare 's play Hamlet, the most heroic and brave character is young Hamlet. Despite the fact Hamlet is stranded amidst a court filled with dishonesty and misconduct and is confronted by the death of his father and his mom 's relatively quick marriage to his father 's brother, he is viewed as daring and bold in the minds of readers. For, it is his courageousness, fearlessness, determination and bravery that proves that Hamlet is not only a strong willed individual but also the most heroic character in the play. " But two months dead…my poor father’s body…why she married with my uncle, my father’s brother, but no more like my father…But break, my heart, for I must hold my tongue" (
Hamlet is William Shakespeare 's renowned tale of mystery, intrigue, and murder, centered on a young misguided prince who can only trust himself. Some may say that the actions of Prince Hamlet throughout the play are weak and fearful, displaying a tendency to procrastinate and showing an apathetic nature towards his family and peers. Others spin a tale of a noble young scholar, driven mad by the cold-blooded murder of his father by his uncle. In truth, I believe Hamlet is neither of these things. Hamlet is a sort of amalgamation of the two, a bundle of contradictions thrown together into one conflicting but very human mess of a character.
The main protagonist in the play is Hamlet. After being told by his dead father that the new king was responsible for his death, Hamlet struggles with the issue of coming up with a plan to counter his uncle. The play’s antagonist is Claudius. He realized that Hamlet knows that he killed his father and now manipulates things to destroy Hamlet.
Through the entirety of the play “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare, the characters were overcome with the need for revenge as the outcome of many deaths. Therefore, no one was happy through “Hamlet” and it resulted in a tragedy. The character Hamlet played a big role in turning towards revenge and never would classify himself as being happy. Hamlet displays positive and negative behavior throughout the play. Hamlet exhibits strengths and weaknesses as well, although his weaknesses of over-thinking, bitterness, and his inability to accept the death of his father overshadow his strengths.
