Over the last 30-40 years, Colleges and Universities have become more structured like businesses and less focused on their students. Universities will do anything to draw an extra dollar from their faculty, staff, students, alumni, and supporters. Teaching has become less about the students’ success and more self-driven on the students part. Students sit in a classroom of around 300 students, and have no interaction with their professors. They struggle to learn the required material; from courses the student has no interest in, and address all concerns on coursework with graduate students rather than the actual professor. Over the past several years, contact with the professor has dwindled and college has become a sole responsibility of the student. No one is there to remind you what to do, or how to do something. This has created a serious burden on many people. Not everyone has the money to pay for secondary education, and at the rate that obtaining secondary education is rising, people face many financial problems coming up with the money. In the 1940’s, college was several thousand dollars cheaper than it is today, and students had no problem receiving financial aid. Today obtaining financial aid is a battle. Students compete against each other and are not guaranteed financial aid. Everything is a competition in education. Students compete academically and do whatever it takes to be successful. However, with universities becoming more business based, the faculty and staff are more carefree. They do the minimum that they have to do to keep their job. Professors will teach their class, but are not as willing to get to know any of their students. They make decisions that will be easiest to them and forget about the reason that they are actually holding their
