In the world of writing, sometimes it is important to scrutinize the author's personal life and compare it with their works. Through that, one will know whether their works is as a result of the influence of their lives or pure creative writing. Some writers unknowingly present to the people their biography in disguise. One of the legendary authors deserving such scrutiny is an American of Irish ethnicity, F. Scott Fitzgerald. Scott was born in late 1896 in Minnesota and passed on in 1940 in California. His father did not have recognizable wealth but past good moral values to him. Scott ambitiously proposed and married Zelda the daughter of a court justice in Alabama in April 1920. Together they had only one child, a girl by the name Frances, born in 1921. At the time of death, Scott had written many impressive novels, fictitious short stories, and letters that are still popular today. His best work is the novel ‘The Great Gatsby' published first in New York in 1925. Other novels by him are ‘May Day' and the ‘The Rich Boy'. Notable short stories include ‘Bernice Bobs Her Hair', ‘The Ice Palace', ‘The Offshore Pirate' and many more. His last work ‘The Love of the Last Tycoon' was left unpublished at the time of his death. He had planned to use it to make a comeback after his lifestyle had taken him off the scene of fame. The work though was published posthumously. By the time of his death, he had penned five novels, three novellas, and ten collections of short stories comprising of several stories each. ‘The Price is High' collection has 50 accomplished stories (Fitzgerald, 11). Some of his life experiences are presented in his books as his character's life. Scott had squandered a lot of his fortune in high-class living and alcoholism. His wife too after contacting schizophrenia had also spent a lot in hospital expenses. The financial constraints served as a blessing in disguise as it led him to write commercial short stories. This time, Scott started writing the story of the rise and fall of Dick Diver in his novel Tender Is the Night. The main character of the book, Dick, had a very good career and family just like Scott. Dick's father though not rich, was a good parent having taught Dick about being a good person in life. This description of Dick's father adorning him with the characteristics good values is a way giving homage to Scott's father. Before Dick met his wife, he already had a successful life, a replica of Scott's life in that he broke up with Zelda at first and reconciled later when he got money (Fitzgeraldet al
