) This means that he killed Bob for a reason and that was to protect Ponyboy from his death and it wasn't an intent to kill off of anger from the previous attacking, So this obviously proves that he killed Bob for a reason and that was to protect Ponyboy. The second reason Johnny is innocent is that he was trying to protect himself. He tries to protect himself because they were about to jump and Johnny says in the text that they had switchblades too.
James King, a twenty-three year old man, is charged with felony murder during a store robbery. The victim, store owner, Alguinaldo Nesbitt, was supposedly shot with his own gun that was purchased and licensed by him. In King’s court case, at least one witness admitted to seeing King in the store. “Bobo” Evans states that King was the one to shoot the gun in a wrestle with Nesbitt. In addition to that, Lorelle Henry, a bystander, identifies King out of a lineup and pictures.
At the beginning of chapter 4 on November 12, 1963 the tragic death of Bob Shelton occurred. Johnny Cade is put responsible for the death, he states him and his friend Ponyboy got into a tussle with the Socs which lead to the unexpected death of Bob. The leading argument is between if Johnny is guilty or innocent for the killing. Johnny’s Defense Attorney Kenidy Shows believes Mr. Cade is innocent and was using self defense.
Johnny Cade should not be convicted of murder. One reason why Johnny Cade is innocent and should not be charged of murder because he killed bob in self defense. Before Johnny killed Bob the Socs were drowning Ponyboy in a fountain and they were drunk and weren’t in a good state
Your Honor and Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, in this case, we are here to prove that one night in the park Johnny Cade a violent, dirty, angry greaser pulled out his knife- the knife he had been carrying around waiting to get revenge on Bob Sheldon- and murdered him. Bob, Randy, and David stopped to take a stroll in the park where Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade were waiting to attack. This is something Dallas Winston, a multiple-time offender, would do, Johnny looked up to Dallas. Therefore, we will be looking to convict Johnny Cade of first-degree murder. First of all, Johnny wanted revenge; he knew it was Bob Sheldon who had beaten him in the lot, and left a scar all the way down one side of his face, Johnny would always carry that scar with him.
During the fall of 1993, Shirley Crook’s, a loving mother and wife, life was horribly cut short in one of the most horrific ways possible, drowning. Seventeen year old, Christopher Simmons, wrapped his victim in duct tape and electrical cords and drowned her in a river with help from his accomplices John Tessmer and Christopher Benjamin. He attempted to burglarize the Crooks residence along with his accomplices, and he only murdered Mrs. Crooks because ‘the bitch seen my face’ (State v. Simmons). He “assured his friends that their status as juveniles would allow them to ‘get away with it.’... Brian Moomey, a 29-year-old convicted felon who allowed neighborhood teens to "hang out" at his home.
To start off my case, do you really want to see a dead 16 year old be found guilty… after his own death? I know if I got a dead kid found guilty, I might not sleep too calmly at night, at least not for a while. At the moment, there isn’t any evidence proving that he is not guilty, so let’s shed some light on this situation and get some background on what happened. As you all know, Johnny Cade, the suspected murderer, is part of a street gang known as the Greasers. The “victim” Robert Sheldon is part of the rival gang called Socs.
Johnny, deceased by this point, was convicted for manslaughter, which is less culpable than murder due to the mitigating circumstances. In Johnny’s case, he stabbed Bob with the intentions of severely injuring him to defend Ponyboy. Based on the lack of intent, provocation from the Socs, and Johnny’s goal to defeat Ponyboy, the murder should be excusable homicide. Cherry, a Soc girl, testified on Ponyboy and Johnny’s behalf. Had Johnny been alive to testify, the outcome may have been different.
Johnny Webb was Tod’s jailmate and told the jury that Tod confessed to his crimes. This evidence was very shady because of his statement,”I don’t remember, you know what I’m saying. Something to put pressure on somebody to do something to get me out.” Johnny was a notorious liar and other evidence was found that after he gave his testimony, his sentence was shortened. Almost always, a prisoner will do anything to get their sentence shortened.
Billy the kid, also known as William H. Bonney, was an outlaw in the wild west. He was best known for his gun fighting and being a thief. The Kid had been on the run basically his whole life and he also participated in New Mexico’s Lincoln County war which was between the ranchers and the merchants. Billy didn’t have a very easy childhood which may be the reason he was so brutal and killed.
The criminal case I have selected for this assignment is on Justin Morton; who at the age of fourteen years old Morton was the first youth convicted of first-degree murder section 231 CC. Although, The report show that the young man was raised in a healthy and supportive home with his mother and father. In spite of this, Justin expresses to his psychiatrist his impulse and desire for inflicting pain on others; he claims to have no remorse for the murder of Eric Levrack. Not to mention, He also voiced to former classmates that "Eric was annoying, always invading his space. "As a matter of fact, after the killing on April 1, 2003, Morton had turned himself in, he described the event as an open game of trust just before he strangled Eric with a belt.
Cyntoia Brown was a girl who just had a bad run of luck through her life, her mother having habits of substance abuse while pregnant with her and then leaving Cyntoia with a foster family. Cyntoia left that family fairly early in life, soon falling into a life of drugs, prostitution, and physical abuse, drifting from home to home as she was raped and assaulted by those around her. She eventually began prostituting under a man known under the alias “Kut-Throat” who abused Cyntoia both physically and sexually, such as brandishing firearms towards her and demanding her to strip. One night, as Cyntoia was 16 years old, she was “working” for her pimp, and was picked up by 43 year old Johnny Allan for sex. Following a brief tour of Allan’s home and a brief conversation regarding some of the items Allan owned, the two were in his bedroom when Cyntoia claims Allan went for an item under his bed, at which point she says she felt threatened, retrieved a gun from her purse, and shot Johnny before he could hurt her.
Hook: Would you ever convict an innocent boy who acted out of defense of himself and his friend of murdering person who constantly attacks him? The answer should be no. Background information: Known as his “greaser gang’s” pet, Johnny Cade grew up in a household with no role models. Not only was he constantly bullied at home, he was attacked outside as well. Johnny was continuously being assaulted by Socs looking for trouble and he would never fully recover from the trauma in which he has been through.
“You got to think Ponyboy” is one of my favorites quotes to say after my parents died. I have two jobs and also to watch out for Ponyboy and Sodapop not to go to a boys home. I am the oldest of the greasers. I slapped Ponyboy to tell him to never be late again. Also I slapped him because I can not call the police because they will put Soda and him in a boys home and they would never see me again.
Johnny made this spontaneous decision because the Socs were trying to drown Ponyboy in the park’s fountain. When Ponyboy realized Johnny murdered Bob, Ponyboy was as frightened as if he was at a haunted house . The consequence of this choice was that Johnny and Ponyboy felt guilty ,and they Both decided to run away for a like one million years. Johnny said, “I killed him. I killed that boy (pg56).”
