When choosing the right laptop, students must first think about what they will mostly use the laptop for. Different MacBooks work best for different uses. If a student would use it for leisure then they might just need the cheaper one that does not have all of the nice features on it. Whereas if a student would use it for college work, they might just need a laptop with fewer features. Everything depends on the classes that they plan on taking. When students want to buy a MacBook for college, they should compare all of the differences between the Pro and the Air. College students often have little money so they might lean toward the cheaper MacBook. According to Mark Spoonauer, “The MacBook Air is the cheapest notebook in Apple's lineup at $999 . . . It has something else big going for it: about 10.5 hours of battery life” (Spoonauer). With the battery life of the MacBook Air, the price of the laptop does not seem that bad. College students will likely pay for the cheaper model because they will not have the ability to afford a much more expensive one with college on top of it. College students constantly use their laptops, so having one with a long-lasting battery life, remains the better option. As said by Brian Westover, “With a starting price of $1,299, it’s the most affordable of Apple's current MacBook Pro lineup, but is still pricier than anything most people would classify as budget-friendly” (Westover). The more expensive MacBook Pro might have more features and might seem like the better laptop. But for college students, the Pro might have too many features and cost too much.
