After having seen the movie about Mary Mallon I had very mixed emotions about the situation. I began thinking why was she forced to a quarantined island when she did not even know she was capable of infecting others with this virus. I thought in the beginning this situation should have been handled completely different. Of course the information added up to being Mary Mallon being the person who was responsible for getting those people with whom she worked for sick. Yes she was guilty of them receiving the virus and most of them dying. I believe they should have confronted her in a less judgmental way. But then again once they found out she was a carrier they locked her up on an island with nothing but sick people and hospital staff. Today I feel that we would have provided her opportunities such as job placement or a place within a hospital that could provide testing to find a cure. Instead it seemed like they treated her like a horrible person. In the beginning I think Mary was completely innocent and became a victim in this situation. She was not aware that she was a carrier nor that she was making families that she had become close to get sick or die. I do not believe that she was doing this on purpose by any means. She lived with her boyfriend who did not become sick and she claims that she had never been sick or had typhoid fever herself. Once Mary was aware that she was a carrier and had all that time on the island she should have had plenty of time to understand how much of a risk she was to the population. At the same time she had a lot of alone time to become angry and hateful towards the city due to having been quarantined. After Mary was able to go back within the community I feel she did try to live life the right
