Dear Jury Members: Mr. Bennett should be found not guilty of the crime of murdering Mr. Armes because reasonable doubts exist. The prosecution may claim that Mr. Bennett is guilty; they are incorrect because Mr. Adams had bad eyesite and could have mistaken the rat poisoning for sugar, and Mr. Alfaro’s prints were also found on the coffee mug. The strongest piece of evidence in this case is that Mr. Adams had bad eyesite and couldve mistaken the rat poisoning for sugar because of the similar boxes and labels. Investigators noted that a box of rat poisoning was found in the lounge kitchen next to a box of sugar. The boxes are the same size and color. Mrs. Swanson testified that Mr. Adams had poor eyesight and trouble reading labels, which could have caused him to poison himself because he could not read the labels. Another reason why Mr. Bennett should not be found guilty is because Mr. Alfaros prints were also found on the coffee mug, and Mr. Alfaros was an exterminator and rat poisoning was only available to exterminators. A coffee cup was on the floor near Mr. Adams, the cup had rat poison residue and Mr. Alfaros prints were found on the cup. Reid was also Mr. Adams closest living relative, she was jealous of Mr. Adams, spread rumors about him, and said she would inherit his wealth. Mr. Reid brought Mr. Alfaro to the party and they were whispering together. Mrs. Reid had a history of spreading nasty rumors about Mr. Adams, and she would always say she would inherit his wealth because of her being the closest relative. Mr Adams was not married and had no kids, his closest family member was Mrs. Reid, which is a reason she would inherit his
