Dear Jury Members: Mr. Bennett should be found not guilty of the crime of murdering Mr. Armes because reasonable doubts exist. The prosecution may claim that Mr. Bennett is guilty; they are incorrect because Mr. Adams had bad eyesite and could have mistaken the rat poisoning for sugar, and Mr. Alfaro’s prints were also found on the coffee mug. The strongest piece of evidence in this case is that Mr. Adams had bad eyesite and couldve mistaken the rat poisoning for sugar because of the similar boxes and labels. Investigators noted that a box of rat poisoning was found in the lounge kitchen next to a box of sugar. The boxes are the same size and color. Mrs. Swanson testified that Mr. Adams had poor eyesight and trouble reading labels, which could have caused him to poison himself because he could not read the labels. Another reason why Mr. Bennett should not be found guilty is because Mr. Alfaros prints were also found on the coffee mug, and Mr. Alfaros was an exterminator and rat poisoning was only available to exterminators. A coffee cup was on the floor near Mr. Adams, the cup had rat poison residue and Mr. Alfaros prints were found on the cup. Miss Singleton saw Mr.Alfaro pour Mr.Adams a cup of coffee before Mr. Adams went into the kitchen for his cream and sugar. …show more content…
