The man Robert Stroud that was also known as the Birdman of Alcatraz was known for many treacherous things. His research that he did in this prison was taken and was written as a book called Stroud’s Digest on the Diseases of the Birds. This book was published in 1943. This research made him well known and he also helped many ornthinoligist. He used laboratory supplies another tools to collect this information. Stroud with only a third grade degree was diligent and patient enough to study these birds. The crimes that Robert Stroud committed were unique to his own type of approach of crime. The first crime Stroud committed was manslaughter over a girl. His second crime that he committed was in a dispute with a bartender he killed the bartender. He was tried in federal court for this and was found guilty. After he had transferred prisons to Leavenworth he stabbed a guard here in a fight. For this crime he was sentenced to death, but when his mom talked to the president this was later lessened to solitary confinement for life.
