Nate Searle P#1 11/8/16 Shakespeare lived hundreds of years ago why are we still using his words. Well he happens to be the best play writer even to this day. In his time, he wasn't actually the best he was down the list of play writes. We still use his words today, like the plays Romeo and Juliet and plays like that.
Every day, a new teenager's future is decided by their parents without their decision when they are pressured into marrying somebody who they have never met. Forced marriage is a controversial issue that affects young teenagers all around the world because it is arranged and decided by the couple 's parents and relatives based on family ties and traditions. It lacks the freedom of loving somebody of their will and they rebel against their family which could sometimes lead to being trapped into a cycle of abuse by families or spouses. The story of Romeo and Juliet is still relevant today after centuries because marriages are still forcefully arranged, teenagers still lack their freedom and rebel against their families, love still makes adolescents
The profound Shakespeare’s birthday is unknown but it was recorded that he got baptized in Stratford, United Kingdom, on April 26th, 1564. Back then, babies were normally baptized 3 days after birth, so people assume he was born on April 23rd of 1564 (Shakespeare Birthplace Trust). The people who gave birth to Shakespeare, or his parents, were named Mary Arden and John Shakespeare. Growing up, Shakespeare spent time outside in Stratford, fishing, gardening, working around the house, and being with friends. Something that continued his imagination and creativity was school, as he went to a local grammar school in Stratford until about the age of 15.
The 1600s is a period of great distinctions amongst gender, class, and intelligence. William Shakespeare wrote in a time where his language is baffling to much of the current culture. To ease the pain of struggling to comprehend his works, translations of his works are available, as well as movies portraying his plays in this era. Matters regarding gender are both depicted in Shakespeare’s creations and are now relevant in society. From homosexual’s acceptance to women’s roles, Shakespeare’s works still apply to the present day.

In Romeo and Juliet, we are shown how their love for one another led to impulsive decisions, causing an ultimate end for the star-crossed lovers. Love has this destructive power that can cloud people’s judgment and drive people to act irrationally, which is still relevant today. Despite the social and cultural changes since the play first came out, nothing has been able to stop the emotions one feels for another. The central theme, “Love can make people do stupid things”, from William Shakespeare's play “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” does apply to modern times.

People in a relationship that could be considered “forbidden love” may give some a rush of dopamine due to the feeling of rebellion and going “against society’s rules.”

To answer that question, yes, the themes and ideas from Romeo & Juliet are still yet relevant today because, in Romeo & Juliet, we can see that a lot of the events that were taking place during the play still hold some significance today in the present day. For example, in Romeo & Juliet, there's plenty of violence that was taking place throughout the play, such as family feuding. Although family feuding may not be relevant today, as it was in the past, gang violence taking place today is very similar to the family feuding that occurred in Romeo & Juliet. And so, the themes and ideas of Romeo & Juliet are still relevant today.

Shakespeare’s influence stretched far beyond the shores of his own island.
