Sir Gawain In the story Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Gawain displays his good conduct, like bravery and courage. Gawain proved he was brave because he overcame several obstacles, like the temptation of the host’s wife, who was very attractive. Another obstacle was the Green Knight. Gawain knew that the struggle to decide if his knightly code of conduct is more important than his life. And thus, Gawain accepted the challenge of the Green Knight and him fighting. And lastly, himself. Why? Because inside of him, there was a big conflict going on. Gawain withstood the temptation of the very attractive woman. What this woman tried to do was to seduce him. The first time they met, it was when King Arthur was to fight the Green Knight. Why was the Green Knight called the Green Knight? Because he was dressed in green and his skin is green, which is rather strange. The first time the Green Knight and Gawain met was when King Arthur, Sir Gawain’s uncle, was to fight the Green Knight.(section 17). But Gawain had taken the weapon, not stolen it. The thing is, he made a promise with the Green Knight at the feast that if one person cut the other person’s head off, the person whose head was chopped off could later on do the same to the other person. So Gawain literally took the weapon and cut off the Green Knight’s head.(section 19). I’m not sure how the Green Knight walked away with his own head in his hands because obviously, his eyes were on his head. I can imagine others in town staring at a headless man, with his head in his hands. The others in the room felt happy, while Gawain felt uneasy. He knew he was headed for death. On Halloween, Sir Gawain left Camelot and went to find the Green Knight(section 26).
