Introduction During the past semester in the Composition 1113 class, the most useful mechanism learned was the CARS Model constructed by John Swales. Knowledge of the CARS Model strengthens an individual’s effectiveness in their writing, thus creating a centralized paper. The CARS Model is a mechanism worthy of using in future schooling; in fact, it is being used to write this paper. However, with this technique, authors have a concrete way to state their central ideas and purposes. Now that this model has been taught, my personal writing techniques have become more structured and organized. In fact, when constructing this paper, my first task was to make my three moves to better focus my thoughts throughout the paper. The at home assignments we were assigned when looking to see what the CARS Model entailed were diligent enough for students to understand the information. However, if we‘d taken a deeper look at them in class, my understanding of the CARS Model would’ve been grasped sooner in the year opposed to halfway through when we began writing our research papers. Another problem that arose when learning the material presented to the class was the jumping back and forth between all the materials without a full understanding of each subject. I didn’t feel that I was misguided in my learning of the material, and I understand that there is a time constraint on the class, but I felt as if we didn’t focus on the importance of the topic at hand before switching onto the next subject.
