Ever since the 2005 World Series baseball T.V ratings have been down, below the 10 mark in fact which means that they have been lower than 15 million people watching which is very low for the MLB . The MLB is a professional league for baseball players, and has millions of fans watching from not just America but around the world. MLB stands for Major League Baseball. The MLB has been losing fans over the last decade at a fast pace.The MLB has lost many young fans over the recent years.

For example, ever since the 2005 world series the tv ratings have plummeted. (Bleacher Report) They went back up for the 2016 world series primarily because the cubs had their first world series in over 100 years. This increase in ratings only sustained for a short amount of time as it went back down in 2017. One reason why this has been happening is that there are other sports teams in other leagues that are pulling fans away from the World Series. For example, “When MLB playoffs come around and eventually the World Series, fans are typically changing the channel to the NFL.” (Bleacher Report). This shows that in modern day sports fans are more interested in the NFL than the MLB, this is what is causing the MLB to lose all these fans it's because of the other sports leagues interfering with the fans. Also since the fans are watching the NFL this is what is causing the ratings to go down which is what is shrinking the amount of fans of the MLB.
Throughout the past few years sports fans have been disinterested in the MLB. Some of the causes for this are the cost to be a fan is much, also that teams locations with their fans are important (payroll), and finally the fact that the other sports leagues that are more popular go on during that time and take their fans away such as the NFL.
