The media has been achieving so much power over masculinity. Industries use it to make known their products and everyday they contrive new amazing and innovative ways to promoted them. This is the reason now, such things as cosmetics and other things that weren’t completely related with man, now they are part of it. In the past, men didn’t use more than a soap and shampoo, nowadays men have unlimited products and brands that some of them are also specific for men. Why cosmetics are now considered masculine too? Because this companies used the power of the media to change how cosmetics were seen. This demonstrates that the methods used by the media are efficient. One of the methods most powerful methods that they used but is unnoticed by the people is writing. This is an essential matter for the industries in the media when they want to attract people because they use specific kinds in order to catch the attention of the specific market they want. For example: Deodorant like “Old Spice” always in their commercials they used specific writing related to force and strength, the words and vocabulary that hey used is male chauvinist, repeating many times the same word in the screen and in the dialogue. Old spice always shows strong males people doing amazing or difficult things without sweating thanks to the deodorant and they repeat “Be a man, man” and how long it can protect you even when someone is huge with muscles. “The Old Spice’s target audience is males who watch TV. This is the perfect target audience because almost every guy would like to have more power and big muscles” (.
