When conducting research there are many different types of measurements that businesses use to accurately collect information. Depending on the kind of research a company is doing or the level of intensity of the research; different kinds of measurement scales are needed. The main types of measurement scales are nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. These four levels of measurement research are extremely helpful in organizing new data that researchers come across. The weakest or least in depth measurement style is nominal, leading all the way up to the strongest or most in depth of ratio. For the research that will be done on the unethical behavior of the Monsanto Company the best choice of measurement would be ordinal. The reason why this research doesn’t need to get extremely detailed is because it’s about unethical behavior. For example the research is not trying to find out how well a restaurant is serving its customers, where there can be a lot of variance in data. This research is about all the unethical behavior that the Monsanto Company has done over the past years. The research is just trying to get facts that the Monsanto Company does not want people to know about. The research will go as what did the company do? Why did they do it? Also why do they continue to be unethical? These questions need to be answered; there is not much level of variance in these answers, only results of if or why this company is unethical. It is because there is not much variance that this research would be better off with a ordinal measurement
