There has been a major discussion/debate over the past few years over whether Tom Brady is the GOAT(for the NFL). I don’t know why it’s a major debate, because it’s fairly evident that Brady should be considered the GOAT. My goal is to convince you as to why Brady is the greatest NFL player of all time. If people had no bias or anger towards Brady, they could see my point as to why he’s the GOAT. Let’s first delve into who Tom Brady really is. Brady was a quarterback who went to college at Michigan. After college, he would be drafted in the 6th round in 1999 by the New England Patriots. His main role was to be a 3rd-string, at best backup, for current NE QB at the time, Drew Bledsoe. When Bledsoe got hurt, however, Brady got the chance to …show more content…
My first point is his Super Bowl dominance. Brady has been to the Super Bowl an NFL record 8 times, and in addition to that, he’s won it 5 times. He’s also won Super Bowl Most Valuable Player 4 of those 5 wins! In addition to that, (according to profootballreference.com) he holds many Super Bowl records, which are: most pass attempts in a Super Bowl(62- SB 51), career pass attempts(357), game passes completed(43 - 51), career passes completed(235), passing yards in a game(505- 52), most career passing yards(2,576), and career passing …show more content…
Brady has thrown for 66,159 yards(4th), 488 touchdowns(3rd), 5,629 passes completed(4th), and (currently) has the 3rd best passer rating(97.6) of all time. In addition to this, Brady is 2nd in most 4th quarter comebacks(34) and led the Patriots to the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history against the Falcons(maybe even greatest ever!). Brady also has the best TD:INT ratio in a single season by a QB ever (28:2) and has won 223 games(including playoffs), which is 1st all-time! Next, Brady has 7 4,000 yards seasons(3rd) and Brady is 3rd in most passing yards in a single season (5,235) and one of only 5 QBs to reach 5,000 yards in a single season. Take this into consideration: Brett Favre, one of the greatest QB’s ever, never had a 5,000 yard season. Jim Kelly: No 5,000 yard season. Elway, Aikman, Rodgers, and Montana: No 5,000 yard seasons. This helps Brady’s case as the GOAT even better. My next point is what Brady is doing as an (in terms of NFL) old quarterback. At age 40, Brady is proving that age is just a number, Brady is defeating father time, and Brady is just continuing to dominate the league. At 40 years old, Brady isn’t slowing down, having thrown for 4500 yards and 32 touchdowns, and winning MVP(becoming the oldest player to do so!). Brady also led his team to the Super Bowl. This proves that Brady is the Lebron James of the NFL, except with more rings and (somewhat) less of an
